International Fun at Work Day

Jan 18, 2016
You know what they say: “All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.” It’s not all that great for work productivity, either, according to a variety of studies. But who says you can’t have both? We think work should be fun every day! Did you know that there’s actually a day specifically dedicated to having fun at work? Whether you choose to celebrate “International Fun at Work Day” on January 28 or the last Friday of January (again - why not both?), we think it’s a great chance to introduce your boss to the idea. Who knows? They might think you’re onto something!

We recommend checking with your workplace before planning any elaborate events, but there’s plenty of small, unobtrusive ways you can bring some fun into your everyday work life. Here’s a few ideas that we employ here at Graphics and More to keep the work day enjoyable.

Workspace Personalization
If you have a dedicated workspace, find a way to bring a little piece of you into it! Surrounded by plain white walls? Ask if you could bring some color in. Desk bare except for a stapler and a few paper clips? Bring in some trinkets from home to spruce it up, or check out some of our desk decor below.

Dress for the Job You Want
Wear something out of the box! A bright color or exciting new hairstyle can really make a difference in your mood. Stuck in a uniform or strict business casual? Don’t worry; details can make a huge difference too. Try some funky patterned socks or a new piece of jewelry. Even if it’s something no one else will see, just knowing that you’re wearing something new and fun can be enough to break the tedium of the same ol’, same ol’.

Best of Both Worlds
If you really want your boss to get on board, show them that you can have fun and be productive at the same time. Here are a few ideas of fun pieces that double as functional tools for work.
